• Bus conductor dies, 7 hurt in Lucena accident


    LUCENA CITY: A bus conductor died while seven other passengers were injured when the bus straddled the concrete railing of Iyam Bridge along Diversion Road in Barangay Domoit this city at about 4:30 a.m. on Thursday. The fatality was identified as Reynaldo Teofilo of Tagkawayan, Quezon. He was thrown out of the bus after the vehicle collided with a passenger jeep loaded with lumber, heading towards Metro Manila. The AB Liner (DWU-555) was heading towards Grand Central Terminal in Lucena City. Injured including Remy Reyes, Las Pinas City; Alma Glinoga, Barangay Canda Ibaba, Candelaria, Quezon; Ariel Quisto, Barangay Masinag, Antipolo City; Kenneth Hernandez, Sariaya, Quezon; Maricris Llabon, Antipolo City, all bus passengers and Alberto Jubilo, Barangay Sabang, Calauag, Quezon—bus driver. Also hurt were Arnel Barbacena, driver of the passenger jeepney and his helper—Leynard Malian, 16, of Barangay Pahinga 1, Candelaria, Quezon. The jeepney’s roof was ripped off and the bus went straight to the bridge’s concrete railing, destroying several meters of the railing, its debris killing a pig below the bridge. Around 20 passengers of the bus scampered out of the bus window.
