Bushfire hits 124 hectares of government’s greening program

CEBU CITY: Fire investigators are looking into the cause of a bush fire that razed some 120 hectares of a government reforestation project in Barangay Canangcaan, Oslob town in southern Cebu. The Oslob fire department said it is verifying initial reports that a 14-year-old boy may have caused it. Fire officer Ryan Inocencio of the Oslob Fire Station said they were not able to respond to the fire because they didn’t receive a report about the forest fire in Barangay Canangcaan. He said the fire also broke out in steep terrain in the remote mountain barangay.
