BACOLOD CITY: A sugarcane grower and his driver were ambushed by 15 armed men wearing camouflage clothes on Thursday morning in Calatrava town, Negros Occidental. The victims were identified as Norberto Lumayno, 67, and his driver Danilo Braga, 45, both of Calatrava. Initial investigation showed that the victims were traveling along Purok Greenhills, Barangay Minapasok when about 15 heavily-armed men appeared and sprayed them with bullets. Witnesses said the men were armed with assault rifles and one of them was carrying an M-203 grenade launcher. Both Lumayo and Braga died instantly from several gunshot wounds, while the suspects immediately fled. Scene of the crime operatives recovered several empty caliber 45, M203, AK47, M14 and M16 shells. Police are looking at a land dispute as a motives for the attack.
