A BUSINESSMAN, engaged in gravel and sand trading, was stabbed dead by his employee during a robbery incident late Wednesday evening inside his house in a sub-urban village in Surigao City, belated police reports said on Friday. Investigators identified the victim as Samuel Salubre Apole Sr., 69, and the suspect as Romart Payumo, 21. It appeared that Payumo was seen rummaging inside Apole’s house, prompting the old man to shout for help. Payumo reportedly attacked him and his live-in partner, identified as Rosalia Escol, with a kitchen knife. Responding neighbors were able to rush Apole and Escol to the CARAGA Regional Hospital for treatment. Apole, however, was declared dead-on-arrival by the attending physicians. The suspect, which is now hunted by the police, was said to have stolen P2,000 from Escol.
