Businesswoman loses cash, jewelries

A 32-year-old businesswoman from Parañaque City lost at least P175,000 in cash and jewelries to suspected Akyat-Bahay Gang members recently, police said.

The victim, Mary Grace Alcantara, reported past midnight on Friday that she went home and found her condominium unit open and her things in disarray.

Alcantara said she lives on her own along Unida Extension in Baclaran. She left the country and went on a trip to Singapore on June 20 and upon her arrival, she was shocked to find out about the burglary.

After she called for help, policemen from sub-station 1 responded and conducted an investigation. There, they found that an assortment of the victim’s jewelries, a Sony laptop, Oakley sunglasses and two ATM Metrobank cards were missing.

The case was then turned over to the Parañaque Station Investigation Division (PSID) Theft and Robbery Section.
