• BUSINESSWOMAN METED LIFE FOR ILLEGAL RECRUITMENT

    A businesswoman was meted with life imprisonment by a Quezon City court on Monday, for illegal recruitment in large scale after collecting placement fees and other charges from 11 applicants in various months of 2007 and 2008 who were promised jobs in Spain. In a 12-page decision dated February 24, Assisting Judge Genie Gapas-Agbada of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221 also ordered accused Imelda Pamintuan-Reluya to pay each complainant P20,000 in moral damages and 15,000 each in exemplary damages. Her accusers were identified as Sandra Aniano, Sally Hormachuelos, Gregorio Barbon, Villafe Espeneli, Ryan Peralta, Alejandro Mansibang Atonio Jr., Edith Pareja Balisacan, Jessie Lacuna, Maria Lowella Tabilog, Maressa Gayo and Geraldine Vergado.
