In celebration of Buwan Ng Wikang Pambansa, free shows are being mounted this weekend at Paco Park and Rizal Park.
Pianist, composer, and singer Ryan Alfred Peñalosa kicked it off with #OPMPlaylist at the Park on August 12, at the Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium.
Today, August 14, the long-running “Concert At The Park” series will have as guests young classical singers who will perform timeless Filipino classics such as “Gaano Ko Ikaw Kamahal” (E. Cuenco), “Saan Ka Man Naroroon” (R. Umali), and “Nasaan Ka, Irog?” (N. Abelardo). Performers include Nerissa De Juan, Elle Tuason, Jan Briane Astom, Lino Raphael Tayag, Eden Lorrice Dumlao, Renz Nathaniel Cruz, Kinah Jorge, Mheco Manlangit, Carlo Bunyi, Allison Rose Cervantes, Stefanie Quintin and Ma. Gereberne Lozada with pianist Gabriel Allan Paguirigan.
“Concert at the Park” is a public service project of the National Parks Development Committee and the Department of Tourism. This cultural production started in 1978 with the primary objective of bringing Filipino music closer to the people. The Buwan Ng Wika Concert at the Park will be held at the Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium at 5 p.m. today. Admission is free.
