President Benigno Aquino 3rd again confirmed his plans to appoint Senators Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and Panfilo “Ping” Lacson in his Cabinet when their term expires this month.
In an interview, the President said he offered Cabinet posts to Lacson and Pangilinan and they have accepted but he refused to disclose what posts they will be occupying. He said the details of their appointments are still being worked out.
“Alam mo sabi nga nila ‘yung details dapat ay hinog na hinog. Nagkasundo kami in general, pero wala pa doon sa specifics. Para maliwanag lang ang ating terms of engagement [They said the details should already be ripe. We have a general agreement but not on the specifics. We need to have a clear terms of engagement],” the President told reporters.
“I offered that to both gentlemen and, siyempre, until hindi kayo nagkasundo sa lahat ng detalye, wala pang tapos [I offered that to both gentlemen and of course until no agreement has been reached in terms of the details, then it is not yet final],” he added.
Earlier, Mr. Aquino said Lacson will have a “general role” in government, while Pangilinan may have a role in the Agriculture department.
Pangilinan is a partymate of Aquino in the Liberal Party while Lacson is an ally of the President.
Pangilinan and Lacson are among the senators who will complete their two six-year terms at the Senate and are not eligible to run for reelection.
