Cache of guns found in car outside casino

A man was arrested after a cache of guns was found in his car parked outside a casino resort in Pasay City.

Pasay police chief Sr. Supt. Florencio Ortilla said Gerry Sy, 46, started a commotion in the parking lot of Resorts World Manila at around 5 a.m. on Thursday after he tried to stab a casino agent.

Casino security detained Sy and called the police.

Ortilla said when police officers searched Sy’s Honda Accord (with conduction sticker no. DL 5101), they discovered several high-powered firearms, silencers, smoke grenades, hand grenades, ammunition, knives, a stun gun and spikes.

Several sachets of a substance resembling shabu were also found, police said. The substance will be analysed.

Southern Police District (SPD) director Chief Inspector Jose Erwin Villacorte said they are also checking if the guns were licensed and if the uspect is staying in the country legally.

An ID found on Sy indicates that he is a resident of Fugoso Street in Tondo, Manila.
