DAVAO CITY: Current Philippine flyweight champion Felipe “Crunch Man” Cagubcob Jr. will challenge the undefeated Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) flyweight king Daigo Higa of Japan on November 5 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

Cagubcob has scored five straight wins with a record of 6 wins, 2 losses, 5 draws with 2 knockouts while Higa is still unbeaten with 10 straight wins all by KO (knock out).

Cagubcob previously captured the Philippines title via a 4th round KO win against Donny Mabao last July 13 at the SM Mall of Asia.

Higa won the title against Filipino Ardin Diale, also by a 4th round KO last July 2, at Korakuen Hall. Higa has already beaten five Filipinos and the others were Romel Oliveros, Renren Tesorio, Cris Alfante and Virden Rivera.

Higa stopped Tesorio by a 10th round TKO (technical knock out) on November 17 to retain his WBC Youth World flyweight title.

Meanwhile, another Filipino pug Jun Blazo (5-1-3, 5KOs) from Leyte will also fight against former OPBF super flyweight champion Shingo Eto (18-4-1, 13KOs) in an 8-rounder super flyweight undercard.

Eto outpointed Michael Escobia, also a Filipino, by a unanimous decision in his last fight held May 12 in Tokyo, while Blazo previously stopped Rolando Niones by a 2nd round KO last June 18 in Laguna.
