Calabarzon police review poll preparations

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna: Chief Supt. Ronald Santos, officer-in-charge of Police Regional Office 4A (PRO4A), following the retirement of Chief Supt. Richard Albano on April 15, led the review on security operations for Safe and Fair Elections (SAFE) 2016, as well as revalidation of possible Election Watchlist of Areas (EWAs) in the region. He also ordered the chiefs of police in the region to focus their operations on private armed groups, criminal gangs, guns-for-hire, wanted persons, and the campaign against loose firearms. The PRO Calabarzon earlier crafted a contingency plan and established checkpoints in coordination with the Comelec and the AFP, and provided security for the transport of voter’s counting machines. A total of 497 police trainees will be deployed as additional personnel during elections day.
