AFTER recuperating from a shoulder injury, Filipino light flyweight champion Ale “The Young Gun” Cali will defend his belt against Hawaiian Louis “The Last Samurai” Smolka on November 9, in the Pacific X-Treme Combat (PXC) 41 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Cali (5-1 win-loss card), a former boxer, is ready to defend his title for the second time after winning against fellow Filipino and veteran mixed martial artist Erwin Tagle via third round referee stoppage in PXC 34 last July at the Araneta Coliseum.
Smolka defeated Filipino fighter Jessie Rafols via rear naked choke in the first round in PXC 39. Unscathed with 4-0 slate, he is now ready for a title shot.
“He must stay healthy, train harder and be ready for our fight,” said Smolka to Cali during his win in PXC 39.
Former bantamweight champion Crisanto Pitpitunge will fight veteran Russell Doane (10-2) in a comeback fight after losing his title to Japanese Michinori Tanaka in PXC 37.
Mark Striegl (12-1 win-loss) might also fight in PXC 41 although his opponent is still yet to be named. Striegl lost to Korean Jang Yong Kim in PXC 39.
