LOS ANGELES: Transgender students in California public schools will be able to choose which bathrooms to use and which sex-segregated sports to play, according to new legislation passed on Monday (Tuesday in Manila). The bill signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown would allow students to be treated as their chosen gender rather than that listed on their official documents. The California Catholic Conference objected to the law, which it said was “proposed to help just a few students, [but]will actually impact all students.”
