• Caloocan is PH’s first capital – MAYOR

CALOOCAN CITY was the first capital city of the Philippines after Andres Bonifacio was recognized as the first national leader of the Filipinos, according to Mayor Oscar Malapitan. In a speech during the 152nd birth anniversary celebration of the Katipunan founder, Malapitan said Bonifacio “[w]as the first Filipino recognized by the whole nation as their revolutionary leader, therefore, Caloocan is the first capital city of the Philippines.” Malapitan said that while the country’s freedom has been achieved, the people of Caloocan have yet to win its war against poverty through programs to alleviate the plight of the poor. He refers to the city’s numerous infrastructure projects, the effective health programs, free college education, rapid rise of new businesses and buildings in the city, and the five-fold increase in available jobs.
