• Caloocan official duped vendors of P12M

The head Caloocan City Market Division may have been illegally collected more than P12 million from stall owners in a makeshift public market in the city. The Manila Times was told by stall owners that Kit Zatarain, chief of the Market Division, have forced them to pay P15,000 each for a unit in the makeshift public market in Brgy. 85 near the barangay hall. They said they want to bring the matter to Mayor Oscar Malapitan but doubt if the mayor would listen to their appeal. The makeshift market was originally for 200 stalls for free to small business owners as earlier approved by the Barangay 35 council. However, upon the influence of Zatarain, the number of stalls was increased to 800 units. It was learned that Zatarain have allegedly collected around P12 million from stall owners.
