CALOOCAN City Mayor Oscar Malapitan on Wednesday urged residents to join this year’s “Brigada Eskwela” to help ensure that all schools in the city are prepared and safe for the opening of classes in June 2. “We hope you help us support our public schools by volunteering your respective expertise or by simply giving your time to assist in the cleaning, or maintenance of school facilities and classrooms in order to make them safer for our children,” Malapitan said. The mayor also directed all city government department heads to adopt two to three schools and form support personnel to help identify risk and problem areas in at least 59 public elementary and 31 public high schools. All department chiefs were ordered to immediately conduct the necessary intervention from May 19-24.
