Aimed at raising funds for people battling cancer, KickStart Football will hold the second edition of the Cancer Sucks Cup 2017 on December 16 and 23 at the Blue Pitch in Circuit, Makati City.
The fund-raising football tournament is divided into Mixed Chill and Mixed Open divisions that will be played in 7-a-side format.
Both categories can entertain up to 24 teams composed of a minimum of seven players and a maximum of 15 per squad. Only amateur booters will be allowed to join.
Teams in the Mixed Chill division, which will be played on December 16 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., must have two female players on their roster, with one of them playing on the pitch at all times.
Meanwhile, the Mixed Open category, which is slated on December 23 at the same time, will allow any combination of players.
Each category will be divided into groups and games will be played simultaneously on different sides of the field, leading to the Cup and Plate championships.
The primary beneficiary of the two-day tourney is Paulina Bolaños, mother of JB Bolaños, one of the organizers. Paulina was diagnosed with a stage four lung cancer and is having her treatment at the Fuda Cancer Hospital in Guangzhou, China.
Depending on the amount that will be raised in the upcoming event, KickStart Football also plans extend help to other cancer patients.
The maiden Cancer Sucks Cup, which was graced by Philippine Azkals star Simon Greatwich and Kaya FC-Makati standouts Ref Cuaresma, Marwin and Marvin Angeles, was held last August 19 and 26.
In that first edition, the organizers were able to raise P200,000, which proved to be of big help in their cause.
