The Court of Tax Appeals’ (CTA) Second Division set the arraignment of film director Carlo Caparas next month on charges that stemmed from his alleged failure to file income tax returns.
Caparas voluntarily surrendered and posted P60,000 bail for his provisional liberty on Thursday following the tax court’s order for his arrest.
With the posting of bail, the court lifted and set aside the arrest warrants and set the arraignment on June 8.
The Department of Justice filed the charges last month, accusing Caparas of violating Section 255 of the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC).
The cases stemmed from his alleged failure to file income tax returns from 2006 to 2009 for income earned from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) as payment for his production of television programs.
