Car thief killed in Pasig City

A SUSPECTED car thief was killed while his cohort escaped after a shootout with policemen in Pasig City on Saturday morning. Suspect Rico Cagalingan “alias Momoy” of Jenny’s Avenue, Barangay Rosario, Pasig, died from gunshot wounds on the way to Pasig City General Hospital. A cab driver earlier reported to the police that his taxi was forcibly taken by two armed men at about 1 a.m. along Julia Vargas Avenue in Barangay Ugong, also in Pasig City. Pasig police chief, Senior Supt. Orlando Yebra Jr., said an alarm was sounded off and Cagalingan and his cohort on board the reported cab were flagged down at a checkpoint along Connecticut Street corner Kenneth Road in Barangay Nagpayong. But instead of stopping, they fired at authorities triggering a gunfight. The law enforcers retaliated hitting Cagalingan while his companion fled. Recovered from the crime scene were a caliber 38 revolver and four fired cartridges.
