• Caraga police slam abduction of officer


    THE Philippine National Police (PNP) in the Caraga Region on Wednesday condemned the abduction of a police officer by suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels on Tuesday in a remote village in Carmen town in Surigao del Sur.

    Caraga police spokesman Supt. Michael Lozada identified the abducted police officer as Police Officer (PO)1 Richard Yu Jr., who is detailed with the Carmen Municipal Police Station (MPS).

    Lozada said Yu was abducted by suspected NPA rebels at about 6:25 a.m., while feeding his swine at his house in Sitio Hubason, Barangay San Vicente.

    Checkpoints have been set up to restrict the movements of Yu’s captors, while Mayor Jane Valeroso convened the crisis management committee to oversee the situation.

    Meanwhile, Caraga Police Director, Chief Supt. Rolando Felix urged the public to report any information in connection with the abduction, to the Regional Tactical Operation Center at 09063200220 (Globe) or 09989701176 (Smart).
