• Cardinals swoop for needed win over struggling 49ers

SAN FRANCISCO: The Arizona Cardinals shook off the injury absence of quarterback Carson Palmer on Thursday (Friday in Manila) to beat the San Francisco 49ers 33-21 in a battle of NFL division rivals. Standing in for Palmer, who suffered a concussion on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, quarterback Drew Stanton made his first NFL start since 2014 and threw two touchdown passes to wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
