Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX) team manager Ronald Dulatre said on Monday that player Mac Cardona is now conscious and in a stable condition.
Cardona, a former De La Salle University player, was rushed to the Perpetual Help Hospital in Las Piñas because of sleeping pills overdose, according to reports.
“He is okay and conscious based on the latest report of our doctor. But as much as possible, we are not giving medical details. I hope you understand,” Dulatre told The Manila Times via online message.
The Road Warriors also released a statement in behalf of Cardona’s family, “We urge the public to allow Mac Mac and his family to have privacy at this difficult time. Mac Mac is part of the NLEX Road Warriors team. We are providing whatever assistance he needs from us during this time. Thank you.”
Prior to the incident, it was reported that Cardona and his live-in partner Bianca Cabildo-Jackes were besieged with domestic issues.
Cardona’s agent Danny Espiritu called on the local hoops community to pray for the player, “We are encouraging everyone to pray for him. So far, I don’t have any idea what happened. We are thankful that he is okay now,” Espiritu said.
