The administrator of the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), Ernesto Carolina, was designated as officer-in-charge of the Department of National Defense’s (DND) Office of the Undersecretary for Civil, Veterans and Retiree Affairs.
“Usec. Carolina is no stranger to the job as he already served as Undersecretary for Civil, Veterans and Reserve Affairs in the past after having completed his term as Undersecretary for the Philippine Defense Reform,” the DND said in a statement.
In 2003, Carolina retired with the rank of Lieutenant General in the Armed Forces of the Philippines after 37 years of service.
He held posts in the AFP as commander of the 78th Infantry Battalion, Liaison Officer for Legislative Affairs, spokesman for the AFP in a concurrent capacity, chief of staff of the 4th Infantry Division, among others.
