‘CASA Y JARDIN’: Meet the ‘Mother of all Bazaars’

The Catholic Women’s Club is all set to mount its annual event, the “Casa Y Jardin Bazaar 2013’ on September 7 and 8. Often dubbed as the “Mother of All Bazaars” because it was first organized back in the 1950s, its unique feature for this outing is the sale of the limited edition “Mother & Child Plate” from the 28th series of revered National Artist H.R. Ocampo.

The committee under the leadership of CWC president Maritess Pineda is comprised of Milo Bondoc as chairperson, Terry Tambunting and Michelle Antonio as co-chairpersons. The proceeds from the bazaar will benefit more than 90 charities, among them, Elsie Gaches Village, Alabang Hospice, Good Shepherd and Home for the Aged.

The two-day bazaar will carry varied items including Christmas decors, home decors, housewares, clothing, jewelry, bags, accessories, shoes, and toys.

In addition, there will be maid’s uniforms on sale, sewn by women who benefited from a CWC livelihood program initiative, chaired by Tessie Rodrigo. The club funded the construction of a social hall and purchased sewing machines to provide employment to housewives living at a Gawad Kalinga Community in Onyx, Manila.

Another highlight of the bazaar is a grand raffle to be held on the last day.

The Casa Y Jardin Bazaar will be held at the Rockwell Powerplant Mall from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visa and Mastercard credit cards will be accepted.
