Casimero defends IBF belt against Mexican

INTERNATIONAL Boxing Federation (IBF) light flyweight champion Johnriel Casimero will defend his belt against Mexican challenger Felipe Salguero on Saturday in the match dubbed “Laban ng Lahi: Tapatan ng Tapang” at the Makati Coliseum.

Casimero (18-2 win-loss slate with 10 knockouts) said that he is very excited to defend the title for the third time after beating Pedro Guevarra of Mexico via split decision in March, a win shortly followed by unanimous decision victory against Luis Alberto of Panama in October.

Salguero holds a record of 18 wins (with 13 knockouts), four losses and a draw.

Casimero captured the IBF interim light flyweight belt after winning against Luis Lazarte in Argentina in 2012.
