• Catapang sacks military medical chief


    ARMED Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang on Tuesday ordered the removal of the head of the military medical center over his alleged involvement in the P80-million procurement anomaly. Ordered relieved was Brig. Gen. Normando Sta. Ana, head of the AFP Medical Center (AFPMC) following a complaint filed by Renato Villafuerte, before the Office of the Ombudsman for alleged violation of RA 9184 or the Government Procurement Act.

    Also implicated in the alleged anomaly were Col. Rogelio del Rio, acting assistant chief of staff for logistics; Lt. Col. Florencio Ritchie Capulong, special disbursement officer and Maj. Neil Bugarin, chief of management and fiscal office.
