All is set for the annual Philippine National Koi coampetition.
Eight of the most respected Koi breeders in Japan and a very knowledgeable Filipino Koi enthusiast will be judging the 2014 Philippine National Koi Show that concludes today at the event Area 1, 1st Level, Bldg A, Tiendesitas in Pasig City.
Japanese breeders who are coming back to judge the PNKS are Masahito Kataoka of Oya Koi farm, Hisashi Hirasawa of Marudo Koi Farm, Hisato Nogami of Nogami Koi Farm and Mitsunori Isa of Isa Koi Farm. The show will also feature a series of firsts. This will be the first time that Taro Oya, head of Oya koi farm, to serve as judge.
It will also be the first time Futoshi Mano and brother, Shigeru, of the acclaimed Dainichi Koi farm, to judge a koi show together outside Japan. RJ Seva, GMA Radio Vice President for Sales, joins the Japanese judges. Considered one of the masters in Koi breeding, Toshio Sakai of the Isawa Nishikigoi Center, will be head judge.
Fourty koi enthusiasts have signed up to exhibit their koi numbering to about 200 and will be shown in 50 large vats. These koi will be competing for 48 awards plus the most coveted Grand Champion prize. 5 awards will also be given to the “Dainichi Grow Out Contest.”
The Philippine National Koi Show is organized by Koi Hob.
