• Catholic Church ‘passé’ in 30 years – Duterte

    10

President Rodrigo Duterte resumed his tirades against the Catholic Church on Thursday, saying it should also be blamed for the country’s ills.

In a speech before newly appointed government officials in Malacañang, Duterte once again slammed the Catholic Church, saying the 2,000-year-old institution will no longer be relevant in 30 years.

“These priests, they think high of themselves. Jesus, I’m telling you, that religion will become passé in the next 30 years,” the President said.

“More of their abuses will come out. These priests, they’re tops when it comes to abuses. They keep on collecting (money), sometimes there’s even a second collection. In our place, the priests’s wife is with the NHA, she gets groceries. This f____ priest,” he added.

The President said that priests are among the “oligarchs” that “ail Philippine society.”

“You know… the Catholic Church is to be blamed for the country’s ills… It’s the… oligarch of this country,” Duterte said.

Although a Catholic, Duterte has been blasting the Church and some of its leaders for speaking out against his war on drugs.

The President admitted that he would not be hitting the Church or mouthing expletives if his mother, Soledad Roa-Duterte, were alive.

“You know, I want to be as decent as I can ever be. I want to be on the socially correct… I know how to behave,” Duterte said.

“When my mother was still alive, I cannot talk the way I talk now. If only my mother is still alive, I cannot speak loosely the way I do now,” he added.

    1. In my opinion, what President Duterte is saying that the Church must admit and has to ammend and correct its ways. Actually, it’s a warning, or else, President Duterte might be correct with his prediction. In the Middle Ages, they don’t have the internet. News about corruption in the Church don’t get to their congregation in split seconds to know about their distasteful actions. The people will not be deceive anymore. The Church, more than ever, should stand on their toes, watch their actions every moment. They are under the public microscope.

CBCP, if you are really protecting the Catholic Church, don’t act as the devil inside. It’s is not President Duterte who would bring down the Church but the bad people inside, just like you.

Yes, it’s true that the Catholic Church is hard to beat. It has the power, influence, and money. Money has been growing since 2000 years ago. It’s been invested I presume. I could only imagine. I hope I’m wrong.

With that wealth, they have to control greedy people that may arise. If not, they will prove President Duterte right.

    3. Duterte maybe right, but not in the way he thinks, what is happening to Christiandom now with all the scandals and rejection by the people is the “Great Apostacy, the great falling away” mentioned in the NT book of Thessalonians. Know that we are living Biblical prophetic times.

All the false prophets, the man of perdition, the lawless one, the false church, all the enemies of God are going to be allowed one last rampage before their destruction forever. We are fast approaching the second coming of Jesus, soon we can say goodbye to bad gov’t and every form of evil ruler-ship.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

The truth is in God’s written word, the Bible.

      • The truth is not in the bible. It is in the book of the covenant- the first revelation by God to man, first man. This was the book that was the reason why God commanded Noah to make the ark to shield it during the great flood that cleansed the world. The descendants of Noah carried the Book of the Covenant inside a replica of the ark. And it was called Ark of the covenant.

    4. Many ahead of us predicted the fall of Church. But neither has succeed. Who knows Duterte will passe’ in 3.

    5. Like a truck stuck in the mud, unable to drive on. That’s Du30 vis-à-vis the Catholic Church, particularly its priests. I’m curious why priests from Davao don’t come out into the open to tell their ‘kauban” president that, ‘hinay-hinay unta, Sir. Kadaghan man sa amo mga padre wa man gyud esposa, tingali pipila lang, usa o duha. In Tagalog, “konting lamig lang, Ginoo. Higit na marami kaming walang kinakasama, siguro ilan lang sa amin, isa o dalawa. Generalizing is odious, unfair, and irrational. Will the Church go pfft after 30 years? Marin Luther thought it so since he started the Reformation. The atheists in Europe and USA even started to wipe it out even at the academic world. Tingnan natin. Evil has a way of destroying itself. Good as such remains till the end.

Duterte should meet mystic priests. There are many priests who are true to their vocations. Unfortunately, Duterte met only the fallen priests. As an old adage goes ” tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are.
