Director Cathy Garcia Molina finally addressed the controversial “open letter” written against her by a former talent of Forevermore, the hit television series that starred Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil.

Molina broke her silence to TV host Boy Abunda via an interview that was published on ABS-CBN’s YouTube channel on Friday.

Defending herself, the filmmaker said that the open letter of Alvin Campomanes lacked context. “Hindi rin kasi nakalagay sa letter na ilang beses siya nagkamali. Hindi rin naman nakalagay sa letter na ilang beses paulit-ulit kunan yun. Hindi nakalagay sa letter anong senaryong bumabalot, kung bakit ako nakarating sa ganoong emosyon. I admit, nagkamali ako. I admit nagmumura po ako . . . I never lied, kahit saang press con po ako tanungin, inaamin kong nagmumura ako. With all good intentions of course, of sana mapaganda yung show, mapaarte yung artista, makuha ang kailangan para maging maganda yung show,” she explained.

She further recalled, that Campapomanes rehearsed several times and was given instructions more than once but when the talent kept committing mistakes, she finally said her piece, “To be exact ang sinabi ko, ‘Sino ba kausap mo ba’t di ka tumingnin? Tingnan mo, ang kulit mo naman eh. Pakshet ka.

Campomanes’ letter also spurred a Facebook note by his girlfriend Rossellyn Domingo also detailing how the director cursed and humiliated the former. Campomanes is a historian and a Universtiy of the Philippines Manila professor.

Molina also told Abunda that had she known that Campomanes was anything but a newcomer in the industry she would have treated him differently. She said, “Alam ko po nagkamali ako, kayang-kaya ko namang mag-apologize Tito Boy. Kung hindi pala niya alam ang lenggwahe ng industriyan ito, kung sinabi lang niya, kung nalaman ko lang, right away I would have gone to him and sasabihin kong, ‘O hindi ka pala sanay.’”

Finally, Molina said she is willing to own up to her mistake and to apologize. “Sana after po nito matapos na yon. Sana maiwan ito sa aming dalawa lang ni Alvin at kay Rossellyn. Sana makapagusap kami, mag-a-apologize ako if I need to, I will. I will own up to my mistake kasi nagkamali ako, nakapagmura ako sa mga hindi pala nakakaalam sa industriyang ‘to. But beyond that, wala na akong i-hihingi ng sorry.”

    1. That leaves a bad taste in the industry. A director, even with artistic temperament, is one and foremost a human being. Ms. Molina-Garcia practically admitted that personnel in the entertainment industry are all boors.

And all in the name of arts.

And she was saying na me anak siya? Yun ba gusto niyang ituro sa mga anak niya?
