Palarong Pambansa standout Paula Cayanan copped three gold medals in the 45th leg of the Philippine Swimming League (PSL) Swim Series dubbed First Flag Officer in Command held at the Naval station swimming pool in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Cayanan dominated the girls’ 13-14 age-group 50-meter freestyle with a time record of 26.98 seconds, just a little bit slow than the Youth Olympic Games qualifying time of 26.68 seconds. Her record got a quadruple A (equivalent to excellent) in US motivational time standard. She also ruled the 50m butterfly (30.43 seconds) and 50m breaststroke (37.75).
“Swimmers that hit AAAA , that is the US motivational time standard. Cayanan’s time is very close to the Youth Olympic Games standard,” said PSL President Susan Papa.
Fellow Palarong Pambansa champion McTracy Alindogan also made his presence felt by winning two gold medals in convincing fashion in the boys’ 11-12 category. He topped the 50m breaststroke in 34.72 seconds (AAAA) and the 50m butterfly in 29.20 seconds (AAAA).
