Senator Alan Peter Cayetano is being eyed as the running mate of Interior Secretary Mar Roxas in 2016.
Cayetano himself revealed that a common friend has asked him if he is interested in running with Roxas, the presumptive presidential candidate of the Liberal Party (LP).
“We (Cayetano and Roxas) have common supporters. When they saw that without Senator Grace (Poe) as Vice President I am number one, (supporters) asked me if I am interested,” he said.
The senator was referring to a survey conducted by people in the business community showing him leading the vice presidential survey, surpassing Senator Francis Escudero, who is reportedly planning to run for the same position.
Cayetano said he is being considered by Roxas’ supporters because they believe that he will bring into the ticket his experience and integrity.
“They told me that I’m not a Yes man and it would be a good balance to someone who will be endorsed by the president,” the senator explained.
But Cayetano said he has yet to decide on his political plans for next year.
