Cebu Pacific air carrier eyes US market anew

Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific has submitted an Application of Renewal of Exemption to the United States (US) Department of Transportation to serve all US points with a wet-lease aircraft.

Earlier, the carrier said that it is interested on entering the US market through a wet-lease agreement with an airline operator from a Category 1 country, or a nation that has complied with international aviation safety standards.

The Gokongwei-led airline said that it is still actively looking for wet leases. Under a wet lease arrangement, the lessor provides both the aircraft and the crew. On the other hand, a dry lease involves leasing of an aircraft without a crew.

In October 2012, Cebu Pacific submitted an Application of Exemption to the US Department of Transportation to service all US territories such as Honolulu, Los Angeles, Guam and San Francisco and Spain through a wet-lease aircraft.
