LOW-COST carrier Cebu Pacific said over the weekend it remains bullish on Mindanao’s economic prospects as it launched the Cagayan de Oro-Zamboanga and Davao-Tacloban routes last week.

According to Cebu Pacific, its subsidiary Cebgo began flying four times a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday) between Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga; and Davao and Tacloban.

“Cebu Pacific remains bullish over prospects in Mindanao. We are optimistic that our new air services that link the key cities of Davao, Zamboanga, Cotabato, Cagayan de Oro would strengthen family and cultural ties, and foster economic development in Mindanao,” Cebu Pacific Vice President for Cargo Operations Alex Reyes said in a statement.

“Our new intra-island routes provide Mindanaoans convenient air connections and support the government’s push for more infrastructure in Mindanao,” Reyes added.

Currently, Cebu Pacific offers 894 weekly flights in and out of Mindanao.

Zamboanga City Administrator Angelique Go said that the new routes would bring more investment opportunities to the region.

“These routes would also help strengthen links between local communities to encourage more business and tourism opportunities in the country,” Go said.

The airline offers all-in-one year-round fares from Zamboanga to Cotabato at P1,806; from Cagayan de Oro to Zamboanga at only P1,906; from Davao to Dumaguete for as low as P2,590; and from Davao to Tacloban at only P2,142.
