LOW-COST carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) said on Monday it accounted for the largest market share in passenger and cargo services between Manila and Sydney in April, citing Australian government data.
Data from Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics showed that CEB flew 16,441 passengers in April, representing 41.8 percent of the market for the Manila to Sydney route.
“Today, Sydney is one of the top international routes in and out of the Philippines. The strong growth of our Manila-Sydney route bodes well for our future expansion plans in the Australian market,” CEB Vice President for Corporate Affairs JR Mantaring said in a statement.
CEB recorded a 43.8-percent market share of the total 789 tons carried in April between Manila and Sydney, while load factor for CEB for the route was at an average 80 percent for the first four months of the year.
CEB flies five times weekly between Sydney and Manila, departing every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from Sydney.
