CEBU ROAD ACCIDENT KILLS JAPANESE TOURIST

A JAPANESE was killed when a van carrying tourists figured in an accident in a remote village in Cebu. Hiromi Ichimura was declared dead on arrival at the North General Hospital while injured were tour guide Ryousuke Toi, passengers Keiko Sonobe, Hiromi Ichimura, Hiroshi Sato, Koetsu Hayasaka, Akirah Itoh, Syouta Suge, Takao Sonobe, a certain Kazuyuki and Filipino driver Guillermo Mambaje Hella. The accident happened at about 3:10 p.m. along the National Highway in Barangay Gawi, Oslob town. Investigation showed that the tourists were headed to Tan-awan ob board a Toyota Hi-Ace van (NCI-206) when the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a descending road. The van hit a concrete wall and bumped a Mahogany tree then fell on its right side. Because of the strong impact, the victims sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Oslob District Hospital and were later transferred to South General Hospital. The driver was brought to Oslob Police Station for investigation.
