CebuPac plane blocks Legazpi City’s airport runway

LEGAZPI CITY: Flights in the Legazpi City Domestic Airport were suspended on Monday after a Cebu Pacific airplane blocked the runway, forcing the passengers to deplane in the middle of runway.

The plane carrying more than 100 passengers and crew stalled at airport’s runway at around 6 a.m. causing the delay of other aircrafts landing and departing here.

The plane encountered a nose steering problem and was stuck at the runway’s edge.

Cebu Pacific plane A320, with registry number RP3265, landed at the Legazpi airport runway from Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminal 3 at about 6:15 a.m., Antonio Alfonso, CAAP Area 5 manager said in a radio interview here.

Due to this, the Civil Aeronautics Authority of the Philippine (CAAP) suspended for at least an hour the operations in the Legazpi City domestic.

All passengers and crew were safe. They were transported by a passenger bus to the airport arrival area.

The pilots are able to lug the plane over the designated taxiway while a mechanic arrived to fix the plane’s mechanical trouble.

Airport operations resumed after almost two hours after the CAAP gave a green light for other aircraft using the airport.
