The fourth and final leg of the Tri Uni-ted series at the Fontana Leisure Park in Clark, Pampanga produced quite an in-teresting line-up of winners that included newbies, celebrities and elite triathletes.
Among the first-timers was television host and actress Raelene “Iya” Villania-Arellano who topped the female 25 to 29 age group. Her triathlete husband Drew Arellano did not race at Tri United 4 and opted to support his amazing wife by cheering on the sidelines and taking pictures.
“I trained hard over the last few months. I chose Tri United 4 as my first triathlon because of the friendly race category, sprint. I raced with my friend Hannah Olives, who is also a first-timer here. Both of us dreaded the ‘swim’ part of the tri. I am so happy to finish the race and to top in my age category also,” said Iya, who finished with a time of one hour, 47 minutes and 26 seconds. Another TV star, Jennilyn Mercado, also participated at Tri United 4.
Sport show Gameplan hosts Juls, Ton and Amanda also completed their first triathlon race at Tri United 4. The three trained together and even documented their training sessions in a series of web episodes of their show.
Tri United 4 wrapped up the highly successful Tri United series this year. Unilab Active Health and Bike King, the presenter and organizer of the Tri United series, consider 2014 as a milestone year for the series.
