Palo Archbishop John Du confirmed on Wednesday that some representatives from the Vatican will come to the Philippines in July to discuss the details of Pope Francis’s visit in January 2015.
The Pope has confirmed his visit to the Philippines next year to see the victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda that hit hard Leyte and Samar provinces in Central Visayas on November 8, 2013.
Du announced that they are starting to build a center named after Pope Francis.
He said the center will be called the Pope Francis Complex Center for the Poor and will be constructed at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lord’s Transfiguration in Palo, Leyte.
Du added that the center will be composed of a home for the elderly, a home for the sick (clinic), an orphanage and a chapel.
The archbishop said he hopes that the Pope would visit the center.
Meanwhile, according to him, the roof and the dome of the Palo Cathedral have been rebuilt, while the reconstruction of 70 churches in the archdiocese continues.
