TARLAC: The Department of Health (DOH) has attained 91 percent of its blood collection target in Central Luzon in the first six months of the year. Evelyn David, DOH regional medical program coordinator, said the accomplishment is in time for the observance of the National Blood Donors Month in July. Donating blood, she said, will help lessen the cause of stroke and bad cardiac conditions and replenishes it, bringing better oxygen to the heart, brain, kidney and other body organs. David pointed out that all blood donations undergo five tests before these are added to the region’s blood supply. The blood collected is run-through testing for malaria, HIV/AIDS, syphilis, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C.
