• Century Tuna maker gains 30% in 6-month net income

CENTURY Pacific Food Inc., the listed manufacturer of Century Tuna and Argentina canned goods, booked P935 million in net income in the first half of the year, up 30 percent from P718 million a year earlier supported by strong sales across its brands.

First semester revenues grew by 17 percent to P11.308 billion from P9.632 billion in the same comparable period.

In the second quarter alone, the company posted a 25-percent gain in net income at P497 million from P398 million while revenues increased by 18 percent at P6.07 billion from P5.13 billion.

The first semester performance was influenced by good volume in the branded and private label businesses.

“We are pleased with the performance year-to-date and are confident that targets for 2015 will be met, Chief Finance Officer Oscar Pobre said in a statement.

Earlier, President and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Po told reporters the company was trying to grow its sales and profits by “10 percent to 15 percent yearly” in the next two to three years.
