Ceres, Davao protect turfs

Ceres Negros FC and Davao Aguilas FC seek to defend their respective home turfs when they clash against Stallion Laguna FC and Global Cebu FC in the Philippines Football League (PFL) today.

With both games scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m., Ceres Negros tackles Stallion Laguna at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City while Davao Aguilas collides with Global Cebu FC at the Davao del Norte Sports Complex in Tagum City.

Ceres holds its second straight game in front of the rowdy Negrense crowd following their 3-1 domination of Kaya FC-Makati anchored on Bienvenido Marañon’s hat trick last Saturday.

Stallion elicited a huge 1-1 draw from erstwhile league-leader FC Meralco Manila on the 446th Manila Day at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

Midfielder Jesus Milleza joined forces with Azkals standout Fitch Arboleda to score the equalizer in the match marred by extended half time due to rough weather.

A win by the Busmen may possibly lift them to as high as No. 3 while a triumph for the Stallions can catapult them to No. 6.

Meanwhile, the Aguilas eye to finally capture a win in the last fixture of its three-game home stand while Global Cebu targets a bounce-back win.

The lone club from Mindanao surprisingly compelled the heavily favored Meralco Manila to a 2-2 stalemate before settling for a goalless affair with cellar-dweller Ilocos United FC.

Global conceded a 1-2 setback to the JPV Marikina FC, which propelled the Marikeños to the top spot on Sunday night at the Rizal Memorial pitch.

The Cebu-based booters also aims to give their new mentor Akbar Nawas a win in his second game in the PFL.

A victory for either the Aguilas (No. 6) or Global (No. 3) will solidify their hold of their current spots.
