After canceling two match dates over the weekend because of inclement weather, United Football League (UFL) action resumes today with a match between Ceres La Salle FC and Stallion FC at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium at 4 p.m.
Defending champion Ceres is currently No. 2 with a record of nine wins, a draw and two losses while the 2013 champion Stallion is No. 6 with six victories, three draws and three defeats.
In their initial meeting, Ceres scored a convincing 4-1 victory over Stallion through a hat-trick of Filipino-German standout Stephan Schrock. But both teams failed to register wins against their lower ranked foes in their previous outing on August 7.
The Busmen absorbed their second loss from seventh seed Green Archers United FC, 2-1, in the debut game of their new coach Risto Vidakovic.
On the other hand, No.10 Laos FC following a defensive meltdown late in the second half held the Stallions into a 2-2 draw.
Ceres is expected to lean on the services of their core of Azkals with support from their defensive back-line led by Korean central defender Kim Sang Min.
Stallion FC will be banking on the frontline trio of Ashley Flores, Joshua Beloya and team skipper Ruben Doctora Jr. as they face Ceres.
Meanwhile, fourth seed Loyola Meralco Sparks FC will be playing against Laos FC in the first game at 1:30 p.m.
Loyola holds a record of nine wins and three losses following their recent 5-1win over Forza FC while cellar-dwelling Laos holds a 2-1-9 win-draw-loss card.
