Filipino club Ceres La Salle FC will face Tampines Rovers FC in the semifinals of the 2016 RHB Singapore Cup 2016 at the Jurong West Stadium today.

After blazing through their first two opponents in the preliminary rounds, the reigning Philippine league champions are aiming for a finals berth in the two-legged semis.

Ceres La Salle entered the semifinals following their 5-3 win on aggregate against Brunei DPMM FC in the quarterfinals last July 3.

Before that, the team also notched a convincing, extra time 3-1 victory over Young Lions FC through a brace of star midfielder Stephan Schrock.

Head coach Risto Vidakovic said they are bent on winning despite a depleted line-up against the Singaporean powerhouse.

“Many players cannot play. We have half of the team out but we will see what will happen in the first game then we can plan something for the second game,” he said.

Ceres beat the Mighty Stags, 3-1, in the group stage of the recently concluded Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup.

The Busmen are expected to rely on Schrock, who is currently the tournament’s top-scorer with five goals, with the support of other Azkals standouts.

The second leg of the semifinals contest between Ceres La Salle and Tampines Rovers is slated on Wednesday at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
