Ceres, Loyola demolish foes in UFL Cup


Top tier clubs Ceres La Salle FC and Loyola Meralco Sparks FC demolish their foes in the United Football League (UFL) Cup 2015 at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on Saturday.

The two high-caliber squads exploded to fend-off their opponents in commanding fashion to qualify for the next round of the competition.

Consequently, newly crowned UFL champions Ceres La Salle thumped non-league team UST FC, 7-0.

Spanish midfielder Bienvenido Marañon opened the scoring for the one-sided affair in the 10th minute followed by another tally in the dying minutes of the first half.

Lee Jeong Woo and Patrick Reichelt also contributed to the win, each adding a brace to propel their crew away from their hapless foes.

Problems piled up for the España-based booters as another damage was incurred by their side after Karl Bronda accidentally tapped-in the ball to their own goal in the 81st minute.

Meanwhile, Loyola FC dispatched second division squad Mendiola FC 1991, 5-0.

Two markers in quick succession kicked-off action as Anthony Putrus-Schnell found the back of the net in the in 23rd and the 36th minute.

The Sparks’ lead was extended in the 73rd minute as Bradley Grayson exposed an opening in the defense to take a shot at goal.

Graham Caygill capped off the impressive performance of Loyola with two more goals in the dying minutes of regulation.
