CEU faces St. Clare in NAASCU finals


Centro Escolar University (CEU) will gunning for a sweep when it faces St. Clare College of Caloocan in Game 2 of the 15th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) men’s basketball tournament best-of-three finals at the Rizal Technological University (RTU) Gym in Mandaluyong City.

The CEU-St. Clare match is scheduled at 12 noon.

The CEU Scorpions are aiming to duplicate their 83-78 victory over the St. Clare Saints in Game 1 of the series on Thursday.

African Rodrigue Ebondo scored 19 points and 13 rebounds to power the Scorpions to a 1-0 edge.

Besides Ebondo, CEU will also be banking to Mon Alvin Abundo,  Jason Opiso and Samboy De Leon.

“We will try to maximize my big men to compensate on their [St. Clare] small forward agility,” CEU head coach Edgar Macaraya said.

In the junior’s division, CEU faces SCC in Game 2 of their own best-of-three series.
CEU won in Game 1, 64-54.

The CEU Lady Saints are also seeking for the women’s crown as they battle the RTU Lady Thunders.
