Reigning champion Far Eastern University notched its first victory this 2016 season of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Women’s League after a 4-0 thrashing of Kaya FC at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on Sunday.
After a scoreless draw against Outkast FC during the opening day, the Lady Tamaraws showed they mean business defending their Women’s League crown.
The Lady Tams dominated the match immediately through the opening strike of Kimberly Cupal in the fifth minute.
Jovelle Sudaria caught twin goals before the break – in the 13th minute and the 28th minute to place her squad, 3-0, midway through the game.
Katherine Dacanay contributed the final goal for FEU in the 69th minute of the contest.
Meanwhile, Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) tainted the pristine record of leading team University of Santo Tomas (UST) following their 3-1 win over the latter.
The Lady Tigresses gained the upper hand early in the match as MJ Indac neutralized her defenders to score in the 27th minute.
However, the Lady Eagles retaliated before halftime courtesy of the shot by Mia Catedrilla four minutes before the intermission to level the score at 1-1.
Nona Amoncio gave Ateneo the lead in the 57th minute while Tessa Bernardo sealed their victory with a goal in the 89th minute.
De La Salle University also emerged victorious in the triple-header Sunday of the country’s premier women’s football tournament after escaping Hiraya FC, 1-0.
Kyra Dimaandal sank the only goal of the match in the 60th minute to keep the slate of the Lady Archers untainted. La Salle is now holding the provisional top spot.
