• Champion Porte dampens Paris-Nice expectation

PARIS: He may have won the race twice in the previous three years but Australian Richie Porte comes into Paris-Nice with modest expectations this time around. The 31-year-old was part of a dominant Team Sky that won the race three times in four years but he is still trying to find his legs with new employers BMC. Porte has started the season reasonably well, finishing second at the Tour Down Under and then taking second again in the Australian national time-trial championships, behind BMC teammate Rohan Dennis. Dennis would have been amongst the favourites for Sunday’s opening prologue but has been forced out of Paris-Nice by illness.
