• Changes in CHED curriculum


    The Philippine Cultural Education Program, under the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), conducted a two-day orientation to introduce the changes in the curriculum as per the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to Filipino subject instructors.

    Entitled “2014 National Re-Tooling and Writeshop on Culture-Based CHED General Education Core Curriculum for Filipino Subject Instructors,” the event was held in La Consolacion University Philippines (LCUP), Malolos, Bulacan from July 4 to 5.

    The event aimed to equip and provide Filipino subject instructors deliberate material using Sagisag Kultura as the essential materials/images and springboard for effective teaching of Understanding the Self, Contemporary World, Purposive Communication, Art Appreciation, Ethics, Readings in Philippine History, Mathematics in the Modern World, Science and Technology, Society and even the mandatory subject on the life and works of national hero Jose Rizal in championing competencies of the General Education Core Curriculum.

    The speakers were Sr. Editha Zerna, OSA, LCUP president; Dr. Mariano de Jesus, president of Bulacan Arts Culture and History Institute; National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario, chairman of the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino; Comm. Ruperto Sangalang from CHED; Prof. Ferdie Lopez from the University of Santo Tomas; and Dr. Orlando Magno, NCCA and KWF Commissioner.
