• CHARGES VS. PNOY’S ALLY DROPPED

    0

THE Sandiganbayan dropped the malversation charges against former Isabela Governor Edwin Uy, a member of the ruling Liberal Party who lost his bid to reclaim his old elective post during the 2013 polls. The Sandiganbayan made the decision citing the Office of the Ombudsman’s failure to resolve Uy’s appeal which violates Uy’s right to due process. Uy was accused of transferring P1 million worth of government funds to his private bank account in September 2000 during his tenure as Isabela vice governor. His prosecutors claimed that Uy okayed the disbursement of P1.5 million for various projects of the province but instead deposited the money to his Philippine National Bank (PNB) account in the PNB branch in Roxas, Isabela.
