SUDIPEN, La Union: A police checkpoint intercepted five members of the ‘budol-budol’ syndicate, which duped an elderly woman of P400,000 and some pieces of jewelry over the weekend here. Sudipen Police Chief Alfredo Padilla identified the suspects as Quirino Domingo, 64, driver of the getaway vehicle; Lolita Jenese, 58; Rowena Jenese, 41; Racquel dela Cruz, 36; and Glorie May Rimando, 24. Complainant Delia Dauz, a retired government employee, said the gang tricked her into withdrawing cash from a bank in Candon City. She added that she immediately sought police assistance after gaining her senses. A prompt police reply bagged the gang at a checkpoint. Dauz was able to recover all what was taken from her. The ‘budol-budol’ gang usually sweet-talks their victims to get their trust.
